Cron job monitoring that alerts you when scheduled tasks don't run on time
Healthchecks.io is a monitoring service for cron jobs, background workers, and other regularly running tasks. It uses a dead man's switch: each monitored job is assigned a unique ping URL and sends an HTTP request when it runs. If a ping does not arrive within the configured period and grace time, the check moves from Late to Down and an alert is sent.
Checks can be configured with a period, grace time, or cron expression, and organized with names and tags on a live-updating dashboard. Each check keeps a log of received pings and sent notifications, and supports free-form descriptions. Notifications can be delivered through integrations including Email, Webhooks, Slack, Discord, GitHub Issues, Google Chat, Microsoft Teams, Matrix, Mattermost, Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS, phone calls, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, Prometheus, and others. Public status badges are available for tags and for the overall account status. The service can monitor cron jobs, systemd timers, Jenkins jobs, Windows Scheduled Tasks, GitHub workflows, Kubernetes CronJobs, and similar systems, as well as lightweight server and process checks.
Healthchecks.io is open source under a BSD license and can be self-hosted. It is free for hobby use, open source projects, and non-profits. Paid plans are subscription-based and tiered by the number of monitored jobs and log entries retained per job, with higher tiers adding SMS, WhatsApp, and phone call notification credits and support levels. Annual billing is available.
