Happenstance is an AI-powered people search engine for the network you already have. It connects accounts such as Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram to build one searchable map of everyone you know, scored by relationship strength from evidence like email frequency, shared meetings, connections and follows. It answers plain-English questions about who you know and who can introduce you, with each result showing the reason it matched and the path to that person, whether direct, through a friend or through a group.
Core capabilities include Happenstance Chat, friends and groups that extend search beyond your own accounts, and warm introduction drafting. It integrates with ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code and OpenClaw through an MCP server, plus a public API and CLI, and offers an iPhone app. Email is read as headers only, with message content and attachments kept off its servers; connections are searchable only by you, accepted friends and joined groups, and data is not used to train AI models. The platform is SOC 2 compliant and DTI Trust Level 2.
