Gotenberg

Docker-based API for PDF conversion

Visit Gotenberg

Gotenberg is a Docker-based API for converting web pages and office documents into PDFs through a single API call. It bundles Chromium, LibreOffice, and PDF processing engines in a container that can be started with two commands, targeting document conversion workloads that would otherwise require separate rendering and conversion services.

The Chromium route converts URLs, HTML templates, and Markdown into PDFs, with headless JavaScript execution, web font loading, and options to wait for network idle, JavaScript expressions, or DOM selectors before rendering. Custom cookies, HTTP headers, and network error handling are configurable. The LibreOffice route converts Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other formats, with page range selection and PDF/A output. PDF post-processing covers merging, splitting, rotating, flattening, watermarking, encryption with passwords and permissions, metadata and bookmark handling, and Factur-X / ZUGFeRD e-invoice generation, backed by QPDF, pdfcpu, and ExifTool. Files can be fetched from and uploaded to S3-compatible storage (S3, MinIO, GCS) via presigned URLs, with webhook events reporting completion or failure.

Gotenberg is packaged as an open-source container under the MIT license, published for amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, and ppc64le architectures. No pricing, trial, or edition details are stated.
