Git for Windows

We bring the awesome Git SCM to Windows

Visit Git for Windows

Git for Windows is a native Windows distribution of the Git SCM, providing a lightweight set of tools that bring Git's full feature set to the platform. It addresses the need for Git workflows on Windows by offering user interfaces suited to both experienced Git users and novices.

The package includes Git BASH, a BASH emulation for running Git from the command line in a manner consistent with Linux and UNIX environments, and Git GUI, a graphical interface covering Git command-line functions along with visual diff tools. Shell Integration adds right-click access to BASH or Git GUI from Windows Explorer. Git Credential Manager provides secure credential storage with authentication support for GitHub, Azure Repos, and other Git hosting services. A Git for Windows SDK is available as a build environment for developers contributing code to the project.

Git for Windows is distributed as an open source project. It is available for download as an installer, with releases and snapshots published through the project's release channels.
