Fraps is a Windows application for games that use DirectX or OpenGL graphics. It addresses the need to monitor frame rate during play, measure performance over a defined interval, capture still images, and record gameplay video and audio from within the game.

Its benchmarking module displays frames per second in a screen corner, runs custom benchmarks between two points, and saves statistics to disk. The screen capture function takes screenshots with a key press, applying automatic naming and timestamps. Realtime video capture records audio and video up to 7680x4800 at custom frame rates from 1 to 120 frames per second.

Fraps is aimed at Windows gamers and reviewers who need performance data or recorded footage. A free download is available, with an unrestricted full version offered for purchase. The latest listed release is version 3.5.99.
