Foster
A community for writing together in a supportive, practice-focused setting.
Foster is a writing community for people who want to practice writing in company rather than alone. Its core offering is a weekly Writing Circle held on Zoom: a 90-minute facilitated session that combines meditation, somatic experiencing, breathwork and other modalities with a focused writing period, followed by sharing what was written or discussing the experience. The community also runs monthly Cohorts, twice-yearly in-person retreats, and asynchronous discussion through dedicated WhatsApp channels. Professional editors within the collective are available for feedback and edits.
Foster is aimed at anyone who enjoys writing, from beginners to published authors, and does not require participants to identify as writers. Sessions take place on Zoom, with in-person circles planned as the community grows; retreats are held in upstate New York in summer and warmer destinations in winter. A free Writing Circle is offered as an entry point, after which participants can join a Cohort. The collective is run by a team of Stewards with Contributors, and it publishes a co-written Substack called CoAuthored alongside a mailing list for posts and news.
