Democracy.io

Democracy.io is a free, web-based tool that simplifies contacting members of the United States Congress. It addresses the problem of having to navigate separate, often cumbersome contact forms on different websites for each elected official. By entering a home address, users can look up their two senators and one representative, then compose and send a single message to all three through one interface.

The tool uses the SmartyStreets Geocoding API to identify a user’s representatives. Its key features include the ability to write an original message rather than a pre-written one, and the entire codebase is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License (AGPL), making it free and open-source software. Democracy.io also provides an email delivery API for developers and advocacy organizations. The project is built on the contact-congress dataset, which was developed with contributions from the Sunlight Foundation, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and other groups.

Democracy.io is designed for any individual in the United States who wants to contact their congressional representatives. It is offered as a free tool with no paid plans or subscriptions mentioned. The project is hosted by Taskforce.is and was built as a project for the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
