Cisco Secure Access, formerly Cisco Umbrella, is a cloud-delivered security service that protects users and devices connecting to the internet, SaaS applications, and private applications. It addresses the need to secure a distributed workforce across any device, combining threat protection with simplified policy management. The product line spans from DNS-layer security through a full Security Service Edge (SSE) solution.

The product is organized into packages: DNS Defense, Secure Internet Access (SIA), and Secure Private Access (SPA). DNS Defense provides threat blocking through Cisco's global network of recursive DNS resolvers and AI-driven detection, with Data Loss Prevention and malware protection for cloud file storage. SIA combines DNS security, secure web gateway, CASB, DLP, malware protection, and firewall as a service, with AI-powered controls for generative AI tools and Experience Insights for digital experience monitoring. SPA adds zero trust network access and VPN as a Service. The full Secure Access solution unifies SIA and SPA, with unified rule-based policy management.
