Shorten URLs with a lightweight, self-hosted service written in Rust.
Chhoto URL is a lightweight, self-hosted URL shortener written in Rust using Actix Web, with an HTML/CSS/vanilla JavaScript frontend and SQLite storage. It provides the core tools needed to create and manage short links on your own infrastructure, distributed as a small container image suitable for Docker, Podman, or other OCI-compatible container workflows.
Features include custom short links with generated slugs or custom aliases, link expiry, hit counting, link editing, notes with filtering in the web UI, QR code generation, and API support for programmatic integration. The backend and frontend can be customized, including serving any static website as the frontend. It is free and open source under the MIT license.
