Artweaver

Artweaver is a digital painting application for beginners and advanced users that combines a customizable brush engine simulating real painting tools with image editing capabilities. It addresses the need for a single workspace covering both natural-media painting and standard editing tasks, including layers, effect filters, selections, and plugin support. The painting process is recorded as events that can be replayed and reviewed.

The brush system includes a large library of predefined brushes and presets for paper, image stamps, and captured textures, with brush types such as Circular, Airbrush, Hairy Brush, and Pixel Brush. A brush editor allows detailed configuration and saving of variants, and image-based painting can clone colors from an image onto the canvas. The core provides tools, layers, effect filters, selections, and plugins, alongside a configurable interface and event recording. Version 8 adds a brush palette, quick-access brush options, mirror painting integrated into the brush tool, and improved pen calibration; mirror painting and some other features are limited to the Plus edition. Artweaver runs on Windows and macOS.

It is packaged as a free edition for private use with limited functionality, and a paid Plus edition with full functionality and no subscription; the Plus license is perpetual and may be used on all computers owned by the licensee.
