Appcanary was a service for tracking dependencies used in applications and servers, alerting teams to vulnerable software so it would not be run in production. It offered an API, an Agent, and Monitor alerting, along with a public vulnerability browser and the isitvulnerable.com site. The service has been discontinued: new signups stopped, and all three products, along with the vulnerability browser and isitvulnerable.com, ceased operating on June 1st, 2018, when the team joined GitHub to work on GitHub's security tooling, including vulnerable dependency alerting.
Appcanary was aimed at developers and operations teams responsible for server and application security. Paying customers could continue using the service until the shutdown date and could cancel at any time through the billing page. No new customers were accepted after signups closed.
