Afternoon is a finance, accounting and tax service for startups with AI-native revenue and cost structures, such as credit-based pricing and inference costs spread across providers. It combines software with human CPA expertise to handle bookkeeping, taxes and compliance in one place, connecting to billing systems and inference providers to give founders a complete financial picture.

The service covers monthly bookkeeping with transaction categorization, bank and card reconciliation, and P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow statements delivered within 15 days of month-end. It supports sales tax monitoring, state registrations, filing and remittance across all US states, plus federal and state corporate income tax, Delaware franchise tax, and R&D tax credits. Government compliance includes annual report filings, secretary of state registrations, a compliance calendar, and an automated mailroom that scans and routes government correspondence. Integrations include QuickBooks, Xero, and payroll and HR systems.

Afternoon is aimed at startups, particularly AI companies, and is packaged into Starter, Scale and Enterprise bookkeeping tiers based on company stage and revenue, with a one-month trial. Corporate taxes are offered in three filing tiers, sales tax is priced per filing or registration, compliance services are included with accounting packages, and R&D tax credits are charged as a percentage of the credit amount.
