WebSession
A protocol for secure browser sessions on the World Wide Web
WebSession is a proposed replacement for cookies for establishing and maintaining user sessions in a web browser. It aims to be more secure, give users more control, and protect privacy better than cookies while remaining fast and easy to implement. It is separate from authentication protocols like usernames/passwords, WebAuthn, and OpenID Connect; instead it provides a way for a server to remember who you are across multiple HTTP requests. It also supports unauthenticated use cases currently handled by cookies, such as anonymous shopping carts, guest checkout, personalization without an account, A/B testing, and analytics.
