Upsun is a cloud application platform, formerly known as Platform.sh, that combines agentic workflow orchestration with multi-cloud hosting. It addresses the need to run AI-assisted development with human oversight: Upsun Dispatch executes agent work as defined workflows with isolated steps, approval gates, and an immutable record of triggers, changes, approvers, and costs. Upsun Cloud then runs the resulting applications in production across five cloud providers and 14 regions, configured through a single YAML file.
The platform supports single-runtime images across nine languages (including PHP, Python, Node.js, Ruby, Java, and Go) with automatic patching, as well as composable images that combine multiple runtimes and draw from a large Nix package set. Capabilities include on-demand preview environments, CI/CD, observability with infrastructure metrics and continuous profiling, Blackfire APM for Python and PHP, Fastly CDN and WAF options, DDoS protection, and SSO with MFA enforcement. Spend is tracked per run, per workflow, and per team.
Upsun targets development teams building and hosting web applications and AI-driven workflows, including regulated workloads. Pricing is usage-based: resources are billed hourly or per second of allocation, with separate charges for projects, user licenses, disk, backups, and bandwidth. A 15-day free trial with ongoing credits covers a first project and one user license, with no credit card required. Support tiers, advanced uptime SLAs, and HIPAA compliance carry minimum subscription terms, and enterprise sales handle volume plans and custom invoicing.
