Tooltip is an in-app messaging platform for onboarding users, educating customers, and running in-product marketing on websites. Campaigns are built and previewed in the browser through a companion Google Chrome extension, then installed on a site with a script snippet or Google Tag Manager. Triggers and segmentation determine who sees a message and when, and campaigns can be styled to match a product's design.
Available message types include tooltip, popup, notification, bar, banner, slideout, container, hotspot, and widget. Campaigns can connect pages and a product's back-end, track engagement in real time, and export performance data. They are responsive across desktop and mobile browsers, work across domains and subdomains, and run on SSL-protected sites. The platform is ISO 27001 compliant, hosted on AWS, and undergoes annual third-party security audits including penetration testing.
Tooltip is aimed at teams running user onboarding and in-product marketing. A 14-day trial is available without a credit card. Packaging includes a Pro plan with a monthly active user allowance, unlimited campaigns, targeting and segmentation, analytics and export, custom triggers via API, scheduling, and weekly email reports, plus an Enterprise edition on an annual contract with custom features, integrations, contracts, a dedicated account manager, and priority support with an SLA.
