TextAloud 4 is a text-to-speech application for Windows that converts text from documents, webpages, PDF files and other sources into speech. It lets users listen to content on their PC or export it as audio files, supporting tasks such as reading, proofreading reports and emails, and following text with word highlighting for reading and comprehension support.
The software supports voices from Acapela, Ivona, Cerence and ReadSpeaker, covering more than 29 languages and various accents. It can play synthesized audio through the microphone for video conferencing applications such as Zoom. Related products include NextUp Talker, designed for people who have lost their voice, and TextAloud Clock, a separately sold add-on that announces the time and alarms.
TextAloud is aimed at personal, work and study use on a Windows PC. NextUp offers fully functional trial versions for download, with purchase options including online, fax and mail order.
