RSpec

Behaviour driven development for Ruby.

Visit RSpec

RSpec is a testing framework for Ruby that supports behaviour driven development. It provides a runner, matchers and expectations for expressing and verifying the behaviour of Ruby code, along with rspec-rails for integration with Ruby on Rails. The project is modular, with separate components that can be used individually or together.

The framework includes rspec-core as the spec runner, along with matchers, expectations and composable matchers. RSpec 3 introduced verifying doubles and a syntax that can be used without monkey patching. rspec-rails provides integration with Ruby on Rails and is maintained separately from the other RSpec gems. The project is developed by a community of contributors, with documentation, a blog and support channels available through the project site.

RSpec is intended for Ruby developers who want to specify and test the behaviour of their code, including those working with Ruby on Rails. It is open source and available as a set of Ruby gems. The project also offers a book and a screencast covering its use.
