Reason Studios

Reason is music production software built around a virtual Rack where users connect instruments and effects with virtual cables. It can run as a plugin inside other DAWs or as a standalone application with recording, sequencing and mixing. The current release, Reason 14, introduces a track-centric workflow, sequencer improvements and the RV-9 Reverb Station device.

The Rack includes instruments, effects and tools such as the Osmium Distortion Matrix, with third-party Rack Extensions available to expand it. Reason Rack Plugin is offered separately as a VST3/AU/AAX plugin compatible with major DAWs. Reason+ is a subscription service that adds tools and services, while a free version provides a set of instruments and effects for use as a plugin without trial limits or watermarks. The software is aimed at music makers working in electronic, pop and other production styles, and is available for desktop use alongside earlier iOS apps.
