Ratatype

Ratatype is an online touch typing tutor that helps users learn the ten-finger blind typing method through structured lessons and exercises. It covers typing practice, speed tests, and course completion certificates, alongside auxiliary tools such as a keyboard tester for checking key responsiveness and a word and character counter.

Courses are available in multiple languages and keyboard layouts, including English (QWERTY, AZERTY, Dvorak), Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), German (QWERTZ), French, Ukrainian, Polish, Italian, Turkish, and Dutch. Each course contains up to 20 lessons with up to 25 exercises each, and exercises award stars, targets, and lightning for completion, accuracy, and speed. A game mode lets users earn coins and buy heroes, and typing games such as Ratashooter and Ratarace are also available. Teachers can sync classes and students through Google Classroom integration. The tutor runs in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on Windows 8 and above, macOS, Chrome OS, and Linux, with support for mobile devices.

Ratatype is aimed at anyone working with a computer, including students, teachers, writers, programmers, and office workers. The free version allows unlimited speed tests and up to 10 typing exercises per day; unlimited lesson access and ad removal are available as paid options.
