Pusher provides hosted bi-directional APIs for adding realtime features to web and mobile applications, including dashboards, notifications, geotracking and in-app chat. It operates two products: Channels, which handles publish/subscribe messaging, and Beams, which sends programmatic push notifications. Pusher is part of the MessageBird team.
Channels supports publishing and subscribing across JavaScript, Android, iOS (Swift and Objective-C), PHP, Node.js, Go, Python, Java, Kotlin, Ruby and ASP.NET. Beams publishes to interests through APNs and FCM, with SDKs for Node.js, Go, Python, Java, Kotlin and Ruby. Channels includes an optional Cache Channels feature that stores values in memory for 30 minutes, and end-to-end encrypted channels that prevent Pusher from reading the data field. Data passed through the APIs is otherwise ephemeral. Services run across public clusters in nine locations, with dedicated clusters available to some enterprise customers. Pusher infrastructure is ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certified, and security reviews are available for Enterprise plans with a security engagement in the contract.
