Polar is a mobile app that provides people earning money outside the United States with a U.S. dollar account in their own name. It is designed to help users receive USD payments from global platforms, marketplaces, and U.S. employers, then convert and send funds to local bank accounts or mobile money in more than 120 countries. The app also supports receiving USD, USDT, or USDC directly from employers or clients.
Key features include U.S. ACH and wire account details, connections to more than 50 payroll providers and freelancing platforms, and withdrawals to local currency or stablecoins. Polar offers a USD savings account with a variable interest rate paid continuously, with no lockups or fees. Transfers between Polar accounts are free, and the app supports Face ID, Touch ID, or passpasscode authentication. Customer support is available through WhatsApp, email, and in-app chat.
Polar is aimed at freelancers, remote workers, and international earners. The app is free to get started, with a free USD account, free ACH receiving, and free Polar-to-Polar transfers. Receiving money via U.S. wire carries a fee, as do stablecoin deposits and withdrawals to local currency or stablecoins, with rates shown through an in-app calculator.
