Plasma Mobile is an open-source user interface and application ecosystem for mobile devices, developed by the KDE community and built on the KDE Plasma stack. It uses KWin over Wayland for the display server and integrates with established Linux projects such as ModemManager for telephony and PulseAudio/PipeWire for sound. The project takes a toolkit-agnostic approach, supporting applications developed with Kirigami as well as those built with other frameworks such as GTK, and it aims to implement open standards through a transparent development process.
The interface includes widgets and activities integrated into the mobile shell, with customization options for widgets, colour schemes, and fonts. Plasma Mobile is packaged in multiple distribution repositories and can be installed on x86 devices for testing. It is also offered as an interface option through Nura (formerly postmarketOS) for supported Android devices, including models such as the OnePlus 6, Pixel 3a, and PinePhone. The project provides a range of mobile-friendly KDE applications, including Angelfish (web browser), NeoChat (Matrix client), Merkuro Calendar and Contacts, Merkuro Mail, Kasts (podcast player), Koko (image gallery), Okular (document viewer), Spacebar (SMS/MMS), Phone, Phonebook, Plasma Camera, and PlasmaTube.
