Paintbrush is a Mac-native image editor for creating simple images quickly, covering everyday tasks such as cropping a photo, adding text to an image, or doodling. It is designed as a lightweight, streamlined option rather than a replacement for high-end editors like Adobe Photoshop.
The application opens and saves to BMP, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, and GIF, with transparency support for formats that carry an alpha channel, currently PNG and GIF. Images copied from common Mac applications, including Microsoft Office and Apple iWork, can be pasted into the editor. The interface is built around selecting a tool and a color to begin work.
Paintbrush is aimed at Mac users who need a basic, native tool for quick image edits. Downloads are available from the project site; no paid editions, trials, or seat-based or usage-based packaging are described.
