The first mobile-centric security platform
MobileIron was a mobile-centric, zero trust security platform built on a unified endpoint management (UEM) foundation. It addressed the challenge of securing and managing mobile devices and endpoints across an organization. The company was acquired by Ivanti in December 2020, and its technology was integrated into Ivanti's portfolio of unified endpoint management, zero trust security, and IT service management solutions.
Following the acquisition, related capabilities are offered through Ivanti products such as Ivanti Zero Trust Access (ZTA) and Ivanti Connect Secure. Ivanti Zero Trust Access provides context-aware authentication and granular, conditional access to corporate applications, continuously evaluating user identities and device posture. It includes features for assessing and responding to device risk, quarantining risky endpoints, and enforcing context-sensitive access controls. The platform offers a unified client for VPN, software gateways, and secure access, along with cloud-based centralization through Ivanti Neurons for Secure Access for managing gateways, users, devices, and activities. It uses a software-defined perimeter (SDP) architecture and is delivered as SaaS with named user licensing.
