The project was created in June 2025 after the author and several developer friends were laid off and discussed how difficult the tech job market had become. The author noted that most roles they had landed over a 20-year career came through a referral, and that knowing which roles are available is the first step in leveraging a network. The tool was built in about 15 minutes as a working MVP using Claude Code.
