Hilstart

Hilstart is a hardware development platform that converts design files—including schematics, layout, netlist, BoM, I/O summary, requirements, and datasheets—into an approved specification, then uses an agent to write hardware tests for board bring-up, firmware development, and design validation. The Tracer hardware interface runs these tests autonomously on real hardware, with reports linked to the exact test scripts and firmware build that produced them.

Key capabilities include a Context module that drafts a single source of truth from your design files for your approval, a test plan generator that writes automated hardware tests grounded in that specification, and Tracer hardware offering analog input/output, power, digital and isolated I/O, CAN FD, SPI, I²C, and UART support with per-pin protection. Tests can be triggered during CI on firmware changes, and reports push to your tracker via API. KiCad and Altium projects import directly. Work can run in a browser-based sandbox or from your own environment over an API, with hardware read-only by default until actuation is explicitly approved.

Hilstart is aimed at teams handling electronics bring-up, validation, debug, and firmware development. It is currently in early access and onboarding teams; no free plan, trial, or pricing structure is stated.
