GitMCP

A tool to create an MCP server for any GitHub project.

Visit GitMCP

GitMCP creates a dedicated Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for any GitHub project, enabling AI assistants to understand code in context. Users change the domain in a GitHub or GitHub Pages URL from github.com or github.io to gitmcp.io to obtain an MCP server URL, then add it as a custom MCP server in their AI tool.

The service reads llms.txt, llms-full.txt, readme.md and other repository files to provide code context. It works with public GitHub repositories and GitHub Pages, and is compatible with MCP-capable tools including Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, VSCode, Cline, Highlight AI, Augment Code and Msty AI. Setup involves replacing the URL domain and configuring the resulting server in the chosen tool. The pages do not describe a free plan, trial, editions, or seat-based or usage-based packaging.
