Gitea
Painless self-hosted Git service
Gitea is a lightweight, open-source Git forge that provides code hosting, pull requests, issue tracking, project management, package registries, and built-in CI/CD in a single self-hosted platform. It is designed for teams that want to manage the full development workflow—from planning through deployment—on infrastructure they control, without relying on a shared multi-tenant service.
Core capabilities include Git repository hosting with code review, issue tracking with labels, milestones, kanban boards, and time tracking, and Gitea Actions, a built-in CI/CD system compatible with GitHub Actions workflows and plugins. It supports over 20 package registry formats (including Cargo, Maven, NPM, NuGet, PyPI, and container registries), integrates with chat tools such as Slack and Discord, connects to external CI/CD services like Jenkins and Argo CD, and offers an API and webhooks for custom workflows. Gitea runs across Linux, Windows, macOS, FreeBSD, and Kubernetes, with support for SQLite, MySQL, PostgreSQL, TiDB, and MS SQL databases.
Gitea is available as a free, self-hosted open-source edition under the MIT license, a managed Gitea Cloud offering with a 30-day free trial, and a Gitea Enterprise edition for self-hosted deployments with SAML SSO, audit logs, SLA-backed support, and a rolling release model. Enterprise is priced per user per month on an annual commitment, with discounts available for non-profits and small organizations. An Education Program provides free Enterprise licenses for eligible schools and institutions.
