DriverMax is a Windows utility that scans a PC for drivers with newer versions available and presents install outcome data reported by other users for the exact package before installation. It addresses the problem that a newer driver version is not necessarily a better one, by showing whether a package has been installed successfully, has too few installs to report, or has failed too often to be offered. The free version requires no account.
The app includes a device catalogue covering over 2,300,000 devices, scheduled scans, driver backup and restore, package threat scanning and signature checks, and self-updating. It runs on Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, and 7 in 64-bit and 32-bit editions, plus matching Windows Server versions, and is available in 14 languages. Before installation, the current driver is archived and a Windows restore point is created by default.
DriverMax is aimed at Windows users who want to review driver update outcomes before installing. The free version allows unlimited scanning, access to reliability records, and driver backup and restore, with a limit of two driver installs per day and ten per month. A paid licence removes the daily install limit and is offered in terms ranging from one month to lifetime, with activation on the purchased PC and transferable registration.
