CRX Extractor
Unpack a Chrome extension and see what it can access
CRX Extractor is a browser-based utility for inspecting Chrome extensions before installation. It unpacks .crx packages locally in the browser so users can read the manifest and source files, with no upload to a server. It also maintains a catalog of extensions that records what each one declares it can access.
The extractor reads the signed header of a .crx file, separates it from the underlying ZIP archive, and returns a .zip containing the manifest and every source file. Users can drop in a local .crx or supply a Chrome Web Store link or extension ID. The catalog lists manifest permissions, sites an extension can read and change, injected pages, package contents, and external hosts referenced in code, alongside Chrome Web Store listing details. Each permission has its own page explaining what it reaches. The tool is open source under the GPL v3.
The site has no accounts and processes unpacked files in the browser. The pages present facts without scores or verdicts.
