Codewars is a browser-based coding practice platform where developers solve community-created exercises called kata. Each kata is a small challenge designed to strengthen specific coding techniques, with test cases that provide feedback as solutions progress. Kata are ranked from beginner to expert level, and completing higher-ranked challenges advances a profile's rank and honor.
Solutions can be written directly in the browser across more than 55 supported programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go, Rust, and TypeScript. After completing a kata, users can compare their solution with others and discuss approaches in community comments. Users can also author their own kata, moderate content, and participate in competitions and missions.
Codewars is aimed at developers at various skill levels, from beginners to experienced programmers looking to practice, learn new languages, or mentor others. The platform is built on Qualified.io, which also offers skill assessments and hiring tools for organizations.
