Char is an AI notepad that acts as a scratchpad for work context, gathering information from meetings, messages, calendars, files, and tools in one place. It addresses the problem of context being scattered across to-do lists, notes, direct messages, and documents, where none of these formats are aware of the others. The product is positioned as a place where a thought starts and the system keeps up, turning written context into action rather than another inbox to check.
Char's core mechanic involves typing a checkbox in a daily note, which an agent picks up to research, draft, or schedule. The AI asks follow-up questions as you write, carries links and intent into follow-up work, gathers changes from notes and work apps, and preserves durable information in a wiki. It is designed to remember projects, contacts, and working patterns over time.
Char is aimed at people who manage their own work across many tools without dedicated support. It is currently in private beta, with a paid SaaS edition planned for when it ships.
