beets
The music geek's media organizer
Beets is a media library management system for music collections. It catalogs a collection and improves metadata using the MusicBrainz database, then provides tools for manipulating and accessing music. The project is designed as a library and is extensible through plugins written in Python.
Capabilities include fetching or calculating metadata such as album art, lyrics, genres, tempos, ReplayGain levels, and acoustic fingerprints; retrieving metadata from MusicBrainz, Discogs, or Beatport; inferring metadata from filenames or acoustic fingerprints; transcoding audio to different formats; checking for duplicate tracks and albums or albums with missing tracks; and browsing the library through a web browser with HTML5 Audio playback. Plugins can be written in Python to add further functionality.
Beets is installed with pip and is distributed as open source software; the project accepts donations.
